Mild daily stress, in interaction with NR3C1 DNA methylation levels, is linked to alterations in the HPA axis and ANS response to acute stress in early adolescents

摘要
•Higher level of daily hassles was associated with prolonged HPA axis stress recovery.•Higher NR3C1 DNAm in interaction with higher daily hassles was associated with blunted HPA axis response to stress.•Higher NR3C1 DNAm was associated with lower heart rate during stress.•Higher NR3C1 DNAm was associated with higher heart rate variability during stress.•This effect was stronger for participant with higher daily hassles.•The data suggests that adolescents with high daily stress and high NR3C1 DNAm show a poorer adaptability of the stress system.
