摘要
Based on a single specimen (100.3 mm SL) collected from the southern coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Coris picta is described as the first record from Korea. It is characterized by having a broad black stripe from the tip of snout to posterior edge of caudal fin along lateral body in terminal phase, 12 soft rays in dorsal and anal fins, 82 lateral line scales, and a single mid-dorsal dark stripe on head. We propose new Korean names, “A-ssi-nol-re-gi-sog” and “Bis-sal-a-ssi-nol-re-gi”, for the genus and the species named after the dramatic change of body color with growth and having a comb-like stripe on lateral body, respectively.
