Hydrogen fuels have aroused the interest of researchers worldwide due to their clean, non-toxic, and renewable nature, making them appropriate for usage as alternatives for petroleum-derived fuels in automotive applications. The most challenging aspect in employing hydrogen fuels, however, is the development of hydrogen storage devices, particularly for on-board applications. Hydrogen fuels can be stored in either gaseous, liquid, or solid phases, and considerable work has been expended in developing hydrogen storage devices that are safe, cost-effective, environmentally acceptable, and, most significantly, have high energy densities. This paper outlines various Hydrogen storage techniques, innovations, and overviews some novel projects that are taking place in a leading country, Australia.
