Peer support mental health teams in correctional settings in Uganda.
The lancet. Psychiatry(2023)
摘要
Globally, the mental health and wellbeing of people who are incarcerated is a major public health and human rights issue.1 Approximately 70% of the world prison population is in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), and the pooled 1-year prevalence of living with a mental illness diagnosis in this population is high.1 People who are incarcerated and have untreated mental health conditions have a high likelihood of self-harming behaviours, violence to others, being physically or sexually victimised, increased rates of recidivism on release, and substance misuse.
