Spatial patterns of tuberculosis in Russia in the context of social determinants

•There is a clear distinction between the healthier European Russia and the rest of the country in terms of TB incidence and mortality.•Even in more prosperous regions of European Russia a high incidence rate of HIV-TB coinfection was predicted.•The influence of the crime rate on the MDR-TB incidence, HIV-TB coinfection incidence and TB mortality could indicate a strong epidemiological process in socially disadvantaged regions.•The influence of the income and urbanization was the most pronounced in HIV-TB coinfection incidence.
