Potential Flexible Operation's Assessment of a Non-Residential Building Through a Novel Tool.

Non-residential buildings (NRB) have an important role to play in energy transition. Their energy consumption enables them to offer energy flexibilities to the distribution power grid. This contribution presents the Quick Check Method (QCM), a tool which assesses the NRB’s potential to shift its power demand into another time, in response to external factors such as dynamic energy tariffs. This flexible operation is achieved by considering the occupants’ room comfort. The QCM considers a modular concept to build the entire building's energy thermal model based on individual zones. The QCM reveals that through flexible operation, it is possible not only to reduce energy consumption, but also to reduce the cost of operation and potentially support the distributed power grid
