•ROS-mediated oxidative stress (OS) induces several life-threatening diseases.•Lipoxygenase, CYP2C9, and NAD(P)H oxidase are producers of ROS.•Green tea polyphenols target these enzymes at ligand-binding pockets.•Binding is favored by H-bonds, van der waals, and alkyl/pi-alkyl interactions.•Binding with ROS producers could subvert OS and subsequent health hazards.
