avascular area (D-DHA N = 20, mean 12.09%; DHA N = 17, mean 12.67%).Conclusions: Isotope reinforced DHA using deuterium does not aid in the prevention or decrease severity of oxygen induced retinopathy in mouse models.In fact, percent neovascularization is significantly worse in the intervention group when compared to pups treated with control DHA.Retina of pups born to dams on a D-DHA containing diet will be harvested on postnatal day seven and postnatal day twelve for analysis of vasculogenesis during perinatal development to determine if D-DHA has a harmful effect on retinal vascular development prior to and during oxygen induced retinopathy.
