Creating overview and summary figures.

One of the first or, alternatively, last figures that appear in a scientific article are overview or summary figures. In this second TrendsTalk of the Special series: Scientific figure development, we hear insights from previous TIBS authors about their thought process and inspirations as they generated beautiful and informative overview or summary figures. Questions they considered include: How do you plan overview figures? At what point in the writing process do you design such a figure? If you integrate non-scientific elements for conceptualization, how do you develop these ideas? What programs do you prefer for generating such figures and why?
