摘要
Transonic buffet and buffeting is a serious concern in aircraft wings and is associated with unsteady forces caused by shock oscillations induced by shock boundary layer interactions and flow separation in the boundary layer. The present numerical study explores the occurrence of transonic buffet in the Benchmark Supercritical Wing (BSCW) used in the Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop - 3 (AEPW-3) at a Mach number of 0.8, an angle of attack of 5 degree, and Reynolds number 4 × 106. The URANS model captures the transonic buffet at these transonic conditions. Where, turbulence closure is obtained using Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model with Edwards and Chandra’s modification and mixing layer compressibility correction. The 3D vortex flow structures are observed in separated flow region near wing’s root; the same has been observed in an experimental study by Jacquin, Laurent, et al. "Experimental study of shock oscillation over a transonic supercritical profile." AIAA journal 47.9 (2009): 1985-1994.
