摘要
The aerodynamic characteristics of the SCALOS wind tunnel models, designed and manufactured based on years of capstone airplane design studies at the University ofWashington’s William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, have been studied by wind tunnel tests and numerical simulations. The SCALOS models were designed to be modular. A rich variety of configuration and control surface features have been studied. Every year, past-years’ configurations served as the basis for creating new configurations to map the supersonic configuration design space more thoroughly. We present here the wind tunnel results from the test years 2020-2021 of several selected configurations, focusing on the incremental effects of planform variations and control surfaces on longitudinal aerodynamics. The results identify a few configuration shape parameters that have pronounced effects on the performance and stability characteristics of the SCALOS models at low-speeds.
