Development of Methods for Digital Diagnostics of Engines by Electronic Indication

The article presents the results of a study of the method of electronic indication of engines and a device for its implementation, based on measuring the stresses acting in the connection elements of body parts (studs, bolts) connecting the cylinder covers (cylinder head) and the engine block. A method of processing indicator diagrams of internal combustion piston engines has been developed. Using the technique allows you to get comprehensive information on the indicator diagram, which consists of 30 defined parameters that allow you to assess the quality of the flow of work processes, the technical condition of the engine, fuel equipment, etc. The method of processing indicator diagrams, in contrast to the known ones, is supplemented by the definition of a number of indicators, which are proposed to be used as diagnostic parameters for modern piston engines. A technique for diagnosing internal combustion piston engines based on the results of their electronic indication, in which the influence of various malfunctions on the nature of indicator diagrams of modern automobile engines is determined and diagnostic matrices are proposed that make it possible to determine 15 main malfunctions for spark ignition engines and 12 malfunctions for diesel engines. Experimental installations for indirect display of internal combustion engines were created and experimental studies were carried out. The comparison of indicator diagrams obtained by the methods of direct and indirect mapping allows us to make a conclusion about the high degree of convergence of these data (discrepancies in most parameters determined by indicator diagrams amount to no more than 5.0%), which proves the possibility of using the proposed method of indirect mapping in practice.
