Between fear and trust: Older adults’ evaluation of socially assistive robots

•The simultaneous examination highlighted that the relative impact of technophobia is significantly stronger than that of trust.•The pragmatic qualities of the robot are more crucial to its QE than the emotional aspects.•Designing SARs for older adults should consider their needs, to make their use of technology as easy and convenient as possible.
