Readmission following early thoracic endovascular aortic repair versus medical management of acute type B aortic dissection.

In this study, medical management of acute uncomplicated TBAD was associated with higher rates of readmission and need for unplanned operation than early TEVAR. However, there was no difference in 1-year mortality for patients who failed medical management. As half of patients were managed medically and half with early TEVAR, this suggests clinical equipoise for treatment of acute uncomplicated TBAD. Therefore, a larger randomized trial appears warranted to determine if there is a clear benefit of early TEVAR.
