摘要
•A new chromene-aminophenol Schiff base ligand was synthesized.•Tetranuclear Zn, Ni and Fe complexes of the Schiff base ligand were synthesized and characterized.•The chromene-aminophenol ligand cleaves plasmid DNA in the presence of Cu(II) ions.•DNA binding and DNA molecular docking studies indicate that the chromene-aminophenol ligand is a minor groove binder.
