摘要
In this text, we make use of principles of Linguistic Historiography to present some theoretical ruptures and continuities of the concept Critical Applied Linguistics. Supported by theoretical premises of Applied Linguistics and Critical Applied Linguistics, we describe and analyze the five types of politics presented by Alastair Pennycook in the book Critical applied linguistics: a critical introduction. In the end, we conclude that these five types of politics point to the politicization of Applied Linguistics, and simultaneously, to the continuity of the reflections that seek to legitimate the scientifi city and the social relevance of this research field.Key words: ruptures and continuities, critical applied linguistics, linguistic historiography.
