Effect of forest structures and tree species composition on common tick (Ixodes ricinus) abundance—Case study from Czechia

•Tick-borne diseases pose increasing threats for human and animal health.•Common tick abundance was lower in mixed and selection forests.•The highest abundance was in coniferous stands and forest edges.•Scots pine had the positive effect on tick abundance.•Forest standś structure characteristics is suitable tool for tick density prediction.
