Can assisted tree migration today sustain forest ecosystem goods and services for the future?

•Forest managers need to prepare today’s forests for tomorrow’s climate.•We designed three increasingly aggressive assisted migration strategies for testing under three increasingly dramatic emissions scenarios with a landscape model.•We evaluated metrics of ecosystem goods and services for each combination of assisted migration strategy and climate future.•Even though species change, their ecosystem goods and services can be maintained except under the most dramatic climate change scenario.•Some specific ecosystem goods and services declined because we substituted general functional types.•Specific assisted migration strategies achieved their primary objectives, but there were some unintended consequences and could therefore be improved.
