摘要
•Northern long-eared bats non-randomly select particular tree and plot characteristics when selecting roosts.•In Louisiana, these bats are active year round but select for different roost characteristics in different seasons.•Individual preferences for particular kinds of roosts is an important component of selection.•Females and males select for similar roost characteristics in Louisiana.•Northern long-eared bats are variable across their geographic range regarding selected roost characteristics and this suggests that management plans should be tailored to particular sites based on data obtained from those sites.
