Abstract
•The influence of liquid viscosity of slug flow in a horizontal duct was experimentally investigated.•Detachment of elongated bubble from pipe occurs for smaller Froude numbers as viscosity increases.•Plunging jets mostly appear for Weber number close to and greater than 400.•The bubble velocity, slug frequency and length are measured and associated with liquid viscosity.
