摘要

•Electrical stimulation greatly improved phenanthrene removal in groundwater.•PHE removal efficiency in ES-bioreactor was two times higher than control.•ES-bioreactor exhibited good PHE removal when PHE ranged from 5 to 25 mg/L.•ES improved contents of EPS, Cyt-C and NADH, thereby enhancing electron flows.•ES up-regulated bacterial chemotaxis, flagellar assembly and carbon metabolism.
