Long-term creep behavior of timber columns: Experimental and numerical protocols

•This article deals with the method for isolating creep effects on elements in compression parallel to the grain.•The experimental and coupled modeling approach is original.•It allows to describe the creep behavior of timber columns based on a one-year experiment and extrapolated at fifty years.•This work is connected to the design rules and allows to give the design parameters to better introduce the creep effects on compressed parts.
