Effect of solution concentration on ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) nonmetallic components used in caustic liquid waste transfer lines

•Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) hose-in-hose transfer lines (HIHTL) as well as EPDM material dog-bones were tested.•Aging tests were carried out under varying caustic concentrations of 6.25, 12.50, and 25.00 % at 77 °C for 12-months.•Burst pressure of aged HIHTL as well as tensile strength of aged EPDM dog-bones specimens were compared to unaged specimens.•The findings of this research indicated that the greatest degradation to the EPDM occurred at the lower concentrations.
