•3D thermal interfacial fracture analysis in quasicrystal coating is conducted.•The displacement discontinuity method is extended to study the interface crack.•Green’s functions of a ring element under uniform discontinuities are given, and a boundary element method is proposed.•Expressions for stress intensity factors and energy release rate are given.•Effects of many influencing factors on the fracture behavior are briefly discussed.
