A review of mixed mode I-II fracture criteria and their applications in brittle or quasi-brittle fracture analysis

•Mixed mode I-II fracture criteria in LEFM and their applications are systematically reviewed and discussed.•Suggestions are given to select appropriate criteria according to crack types and failure characteristics.•T-stresses greatly affect the crack propagation behavior and they should be introduced into the fracture criteria.
