The use of monitoring and feedback devices in driving: An assessment of acceptability and its key determinants

•Participants were, on average, slightly positive about a monitoring and feedback device.•Drivers consider themselves good drivers and the majority do not believe they can improve.•Based on the observation of little worry about online data collection, it appears that privacy concerns are small.•Participants preferred not sharing their data or sharing anonymously over sharing for social comparison.•Allowing personalisation of the monitoring and feedback device could increase acceptability.
