Design of Daylighting System Using Modified Fresnel Lens and Multi-Stages Secondary Lens

In this paper, a novel design for Daylighting system is proposed in detail. The introduced system is a combination of a designed Fresnel lens as a primary lens and a unique structure of a secondary lens to manage the main heating challenge in a design of a daylighting system. The structures of the primary and secondary lens are designed in Matlab program by using the fundamentals of non-imaging optics and then the data is imported into LightTools software to do ray-tracing and simulation to estimate the performance of the proposed system. The simulation results illustrate that the system can be a potential candidate for the next generation of daylighting systems with high optical efficiency and low cost. The designed daylighting system has some good properties such as uniformity of about 60 %, and total optical efficiency of about 70 %.
