Experimental study on the life of fast repulsive mechanical switches

Abstract
Fast mechanical switch plays a key role in circuit breaker, but it is very easy to be damaged by the huge force, thus reducing the service life of fast mechanical switch. To address this problem, this paper first divides the design of the fast mechanical switch into three parts based on the body design, power supply design and control design, briefly analyzes the composition and technical parameters of the fast mechanical switch, develops the test prototype on this basis and gives the corresponding physical diagram, and finally conducts mechanical life experiments using the test prototype and verifies the design effect through three improvements. The results show that based on the 24kV fast mechanical switch test prototype, the life time of the fast mechanical switch can reach 1000 times when the operating mass of the fast repulsion mechanism is 7.5kg and the closing and breaking voltages are in the range of 1290V-1473V and 1096V-1251V respectively.
