•A simple method that can ameliorate porous PTFE membrane is proposed.•Membranes with robust biomimetic structures are successfully fabricated.•The Young‘s modulus of the hybrid membrane can be enhanced up to 31.11 times.•A novel hybrid biomimetic membrane revealed adjustable functionalities.
