•This paper study the influence of strain rate on the stress–strain relationship of rubber concrete with FRP confinement.•Rare and valuable experimental data on the mechanical behavior of FRP-confined rubber concrete under different strain rates was obtained.•The proposed model can be used for both FRP-confined rubber concrete and FRP-confined normal concrete.
