Retrieving soil moisture from grape growing areas using multi-feature and stacking-based ensemble learning modeling

•A multi-feature stacking-based method was proposed for SM retrieval in vineyards.•SM retrieval accuracy was highly improved by adding ET and topographical features.•Stacking models at 8-day resolution accurately grasped the SM change.•Spatiotemporal distributions of drought were analyzed for 10 years.
