摘要
Dental resin composites (DRCs) are the most versatile restorative materials to restore the decayed or damaged teeth. Therefore, fabrication of DRC has found significant attention in academic research for clinical uses. This review article aims to investigate the components of DRC materials as restorative biomaterials. Furthermore, it contains comprehensive introduction of a variety of monomer, diluent, photo-initiator, accelerator, and inhibitor characteristics of DRCs. The different sizes and shapes of filler particles are also proposed. The choice of dental composites is also shown. Subsequently, the effect of several fillers on the different characterization (physical, chemical, mechanical, biological, tribological, and thermal) of DRCs is also illustrated. Finally, conclusions are drawn and future perspectives are described. It revealed that the resin matrix of the dental composite can be affected by the ratio of monomers and diluents. The phyico-mechanical and tribological characteristics of DRCs can be impacted by the size, shape, and form of fillers.
