Abstract
•Timing the break-up of the Baltica and Laurentia connection in Nuna is suggested at 1.12–1.04 Ga.•The new 1.244–1.200 Ga paleomagnetic pole fills part of the 1.260–1.140 Ga gap in the paleomagnetic record of Baltica.•We suggest that large oscillating shifts in pole positions for Laurentia and Baltica at 1.11–1.02 Ga and 1.05–0.92 Ga result from a combination of relative plate motion and inertial interchange true polar wander (IITPW) events.
