摘要

•Mesalazine (MSZ) is used in Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) with low absorptivity in the inflamed colon.•Acetylation Cashew Gum (ACG) is a natural polysaccharide that improves nanostructured systems seeking a more controlled drug release and gastrointestinal protection.•The incorporation of MSZ in crystalline state into polymeric nanoparticles of ACG made it more stable.•The NP-ACG-MSZ demonstrated gastrorresistance and sustained release at pH 7.4.•NP-ACG (with or without MSZ) showed no basal cytotoxicity.
