Provenance changes for mineral matter in the latest Permian coals from western Guizhou, southwestern China, relative to tectonic and volcanic activity in the Emeishan Large Igneous Province and Paleo-Tethys region

•Mineral matter in the investigated coals, floors, and roofs substantially vary.•Mineral matter in the investigated coals, floors, and roofs has multiple sources.•Inorganics in coal were derived from the Kangdian tops and the Paleo-Tethys region.•The floors and roofs were mainly derived from ELIP high-Ti basalts.•The latest Permian sedimentation was controlled by tectonic activity along faults.
