Next generation sequencing as a potential diagnostic tool of teratozoospermia related infertility.

Background and Aim: Teratozoospermia, characterized by a malformed sperm morphology, is a common cause of infertility. Its pathogenesis is not yet clear and a great number of cases are diagnosed as idiopathic. The identification of the molecular basis of teratozoospermia represents a significant challenge due to the large number of genes involved in spermatogenesis. The high analytical competence of next-generation sequencing (NGS) provides a valuable diagnostic tool. The aim of this study was to determine the yield of NGS male factor gene panel for teratozoospermia etiology diagnosis.
