A Graph Model for Scheduling Traffic Signals with Maximum Flexibility.

Using traffic lights at an intersection is to resolve the conflicts among different traffic paths while retaining the capacity of passing vehicles as much as possible. The traditional methods for scheduling signals at a signalized intersection ensure the former. Correspondingly, the approach used for this purpose usually consists of engineering design followed by a verification of correctness in resolving all conflicts. This paper presents a graph model used as a framework for scheduling traffic lights that guarantees both correctness and maximum flexibility.
