Cognitive Response to Nitric Oxide on Aging People.

Aging leads to health conditions that include high blood pressure and degraded cognitive function. This study observes cognitive function and blood pressure in aging people with sildenafil. The effect of nitric oxide was assessed in four healthy aging subjects using hybrid electroencephalography and functional near-infrared spectroscopy. The measurements were applied at pre-dose and 30 mins after ingestion of nitric oxide (post-dose). The participants performed the N-back task and Stroop task. Blood pressure was measured before the pre-dose and post-dose periods. The effects of nitric oxide on cognitive function and cerebral blood flow were reviewed. This finding shows no significant effects of nitric oxide on cognitive function.
