Abstract
•We evaluated the relationships between some environmental factors and gene expression levels of Phlebotomus tobbi proteins that have important roles in vector life-history traits, parasite survival, and disease occurrence.•Temperature directly affects the expression of P. tobbi Cacophony and SP38 proteins.•The expression levels of P. tobbi SP32 proteins are affected by relative humidity rather than temperature.•Gene expression levels among natural P. tobbi populations differ related to their surrounding micro-climatic conditions.
