Characteristics Analysis of the Combined Levitation and Guidance EDS Maglev Train in the Rolling Motion

The influence of the rolling motion and the lateral motion caused by the rolling motion on electromagnetic performance of combined levitation and guidance EDS maglev train is calculated and analyzed. First, the coupling mechanism between the rolling motion and the lateral motion caused by the rolling motion is discussed in detail. Then, the mathematical model and analytic method are presented, and the formulas of levitation force, guidance force, and rolling torque are derived. By decoupling the lateral motion and the rolling motion, the coupling stiffness and equivalent rolling stiffness are obtained. Third, the variation trends of levitation force, guidance force, and rolling torque with lateral offset after rolling motion occurs are discussed, the redistributions of guidance force and rolling torque with levitation height are predicted, and the coupling stiffness and equivalent rolling stiffness at different speeds are compared. Meanwhile, the three-dimensional finite-element model is established to verify the correctness of the analytical model. Finally, the analytical results are experimentally verified.
