•Developed a highly efficient extractant: deep eutectic supramolecular polymer.•Ultrasound-assisted DESP extraction system was efficient to polyphenolic compounds from bayberry.•Developed DESP-CS bioactive membranes based on DESP and chitosan.•Bioactive substances (TPs) enhance the mechanical properties of DESP-CS membranes.•The DESP-CS films can be developed as a new type of green bio-glue.
