Effect of ultrasound assisted cleaning on pesticide removal and quality characteristics of Vitis vinifera leaves

•Quality properties of pesticide contaminated Vitis vinifera leaves subjected to ultrasonic cleaning for 5, 10 and 15 min.•The effect of different cleaning treatments on pesticide residues (acetamiprid, deltamethrin and pyridaben) that are widely used in leaves were determined.•Ultrasonic cleaning (37 kHz) for 10 min was found to be the most efficient method for reducing pesticide residues.•The effect of sonication on pesticide removal from vine leaves, one of the most pesticide polluted plant products was defined for the first time.
