Integrated photocatalysis and moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) for treating conventional and emerging organic pollutants from synthetic wastewater: Performances and microbial community responses

•A LED photocatalysis process was introduced into MBBR system.•SMX and COD were effectively removed by the integrate system.•Microbial responses to photocatalysis in the MBBR were investigated.•The clostridiaceae and enterobacteriaceae were the dominant families.
