Abstract
Pollinating insects are crucial to maintaining ecosystem services for both wild and human-selected 11 plants. Only considering agriculture production used directly for human food, insect pollination is 12 estimated to be worth 153 billion Euros (Gallai et al., 2009). However, insect pollinators and more 13 generally insects are facing a decline driven by factors such as habitat loss, pesticide use, climate 14 change, land use, invasive species, and agricultural intensification (Vanbergen, 2013 The studies presented in this Research Topic try to identify and quantify molecular and cellular 37 pesticide-induced effects underlying previously reported behavioral changes. but often produce new questions. We, therefore, hope that this Research Topic will serve as an 64 inspiration to scientists to follow these interdisciplinary approaches.
