Abstract
Current-source inverter (CSI) is the counterpart of voltage-source inverter (VSI) by utilizing inductor as the dc-link energy storage device. Filter capacitors are employed on the inverter output terminals to bypath the switching current harmonics. The second-order CL filter composed of capacitor and winding inductance provides better harmonic suppression performance and lower dv/dt transients, which make CSI an ideal alternative for modern machine drives. In this paper, the three-phase star and delta winding configurations are investigated by using the CSI scheme. The topology schematics are presented. The current vector space of two configurations are depicted. The comparative analysis is performed in view of the key indicators including modulation index and magnitude of dc-link voltage. Simulation is performed to verify the proposed schemes.
