Novel and thermostable double-perovskite La2ZnTiO6: Sm3+, Dy3+ phosphors with high quantum efficiency

Double-perovskite samarium-and trivalent dysprosium-doped La2ZnTiO6 (LZTO: Sm3+ and LZTO: Dy3+) phos-phors were prepared by a solid-state reaction method, and their luminescence properties were systemically investigated by Rietveld refinement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, emission/excitation spectra, and thermal quenching measurement. Under the excitation of a 325 nm laser, the individually Sm3+- and Dy3+- doped phosphors reveal a characteristic and strong red emission peak at 602 nm and yellow emission at 575 nm, respectively. The samples also achieve excellent quantum efficiency (QE), which is as high as 52% for LZTO: Sm3+ and 93% for LZTO: Dy3+. In addition, the thermal stability remains strong and retains >63% and 61.3% of the original luminescence intensity at 475 K for the single Sm3+- and Dy3+-doped phosphors, respectively.
