•LFA has been proved to reliably measure thermal diffusivity of Zircaloy tube.•Hydrogen plays significant roles in thermal diffusivity of Zircaloy cladding.•Hydrogen reduces the thermal diffusivity of α-Zr phase in Zircaloy.•Inflection of thermal diffusivity and electrical resistivity is due to the phase transformation.
