Effect of Massa Medicata Fermentata on the intestinal flora of rats with functional dyspepsia

•MMF can improve the structure of the intestinal flora of FD rats and cause changes in the metabolite SCFAs.•These findings not only provide new insights for the pharmacological effects of MMF in the treatment of FD, but also prove that the study of intestinal flora metabolism is an effective way to reveal the molecular mechanism of MMF in the treatment of FD.•Due to its medical supervision of health conditions, MMF may be developed as a supplement to preventive use of FD.
