The Role of Gynecologic Surgical Training for the Practicing Obstetrician

A decline in surgical training and skill acquisition in gynecology has been widely recognized and has been receiving much attention during the past 5 years. Potential solutions have been discussed in a number of publications and forums. A system of tracking is 1 such proposal, with the idea being to provide residents opportunities to direct their training into more-specialized areas after basic training. Gynecologic surgical training, as it relates to obstetrical practice has received little attention.
