Abstract
Ransomware first appeared in the late 1980’s, and has since grown to become one of the most significant issues in the cyber world today. Our hypothesis is that non-subject experts can visually detect ransomware with minimal cyber security awareness which could lead to human assisted machine learning to train ransomware aware detection algorithms. This work further contributes new methods and knowledge to the field of active learning which combine Human operators and Machine Learning techniques to form effective and scalable cyber security tools.
